Arguably the most exciting part of SynBio, this is Ontario Genomics' annual pitch competition where Canadian synthetic biology start-ups highlight their companies to a panel of all-star investors. The winning pitch will take home a prize package valued at $18,000!
The participants will be vying for a prize package that includes $10,000 from IndieBio as well as an IP strategy session valued at $4,000 from Torys LLP

Eligibility

Startups must be based in Canada
-
Incorporated on or after January 1, 2020 (pre-incorporation companies are eligible but must incorporate if they’re successful and before receiving any funds)

Raised less than $500,000 in funding
-
Products or services being developed must be a synthetic biology/engineering biology technology or enabled by these technologies in any relevant sector (eg. Bioproducts, health, food, agriculture, natural resources, etc.)

Companies must have an IP strategy

Companies must demonstrate access to lab resources, as required

Prize & Terms

Companies will compete for a grand a prize package valued at $18,000

The funding is offered as a grant, without any ownership stake in the company or any intellectual property being taken by Ontario Genomics or its partners

Periodic reporting on the impact of the funding received will be required

Detailed terms will be provided in the funding agreement
