Michelle Bamji-Mirza
Manager, Technology Access Centre in Bio-innovation (TAC-B), La Cité College
As of August 2024, Michelle Bamji-Mirza became Manager of the Technology Access Centre in Bio-innovation (TAC-B) at La Cité College, in Ottawa, a research centre that accelerates Canadian innovation through co-funded collaborative research projects with industry in the domains of health, agricultural and industrial biotechnology. Prior to this she was a Researcher at the TAC-B for 3 years where she led research projects with private companies, advancing technologies in countless domains including textile recycling, nanocellulose applications, development of medical devices for disease detection, and cell-based meat. She builds partnerships to foster the development of novel products and processes and participates in grant applications to fund the Research Office and build capacity at the College. Dr. Bamji-Mirza obtained her Ph.D. in Biochemistry at the University of Ottawa in the fields of cardiovascular disease and lipid metabolism. She led research projects during her postdoctoral fellowship at the National Research Council of Canada that culminated in publications in the fields of Alzheimer’s disease and neuroinflammation. Prior to joining the TAC-B, Dr. Bamji-Mirza led and managed the research and product development activities for DeltaDNA Biosciences, Inc. as a Research Scientist, and is a co-inventor on their lead product.
